Before the first brick was laid, before the first road was paved, before the first door opened, there was a dream. The word "utopia" was Thomas More's invention : a Greek pun that means both "good place" and "no place." He was not being cynical. He was being precise. The prefix "ou" (no) and "eu" (good) differ by a single letter : the difference between a place that cannot exist and a place that has not existed yet.
